Why edit faces in the browser
Portraits are more sensitive than landscapes. If retouching can stay on the device, skip a third-party server.
The local pipeline
MediaPipe supplies a face mesh, parsing masks drive makeup, and WebGL applies piecewise-affine warps. Inference runs on your GPU or CPU.
Stats and ads
51.la counts page views and does not read photos. Ads try Baidu or Google by region; if scripts fail, the gray slot stays so the layout does not jump.
Larger upscalers download when you open that tool and cache in the browser. Closing the tab does not leave your photo on this site’s servers.
Source is GPL-3.0. Keep the privacy notice if you deploy a modified copy, and publish corresponding source.
